Manic Mondays at The Loft have begun!

Join us on Mondays when we do nail art, craft, or make jewelry! Lately we have been painting our nails, but next week we are going to collage!

Collage (From the Frenchcoller, to glue, French pronunciation: [kɔ.laːʒ]) is a technique of an art production, primarily used in the visual arts, where the artwork is made from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole.

We will bring in containers such as tea and coffee tins, tubs, and boxes. We have a plethora of fashion, art, and graphic design magazines on hand. We will cut out images, words, and photographs, or simply designs, and paste them to the containers. We can then draw or paint over them or layer the images however you desire. You may even bring your own images, photographs, prints, or magazines.

We will also have an ipod for music. If you have any suggestions or songs you would like to hear, let is know and we will add them to the ipod.

We are looking forward to seeing you Monday!

Welcome to The Loft!

Greetings from The Stickney Forest View Public Library Teen Loft. If you haven't visited us before, it's high time you do so! We have our very own second floor balcony space, dedicated to young adults, ages 12-18. We have a comfy spot here with cafe style seating, couches, and bean bag chairs, internet-ready computer workstations, a flat screen TV and PS4, not to mention our awesome collection of fiction, Manga, Graphic Novels, books of CD, Non-Fiction, and Magazines.

We have a TON of programming here at The Loft, including Craftzilla, Office Supply Warfare, and Gaming Throwdown. We also have an Anime & Mange club that meets once a month where we watch Anime and swap Manga. We occasionally have after hours parties where we watch movies and eat pizza. Our SUmmer Reading Program just ended and we had a fabulous Horror Movie Marathon where we raffled off super cool items including a brand-new laptop!

So if you want book recommendations, to learn a new craft, make weapons from office supplies, game with friends, read, study, or just hang out and play games, come visit us!

Yours,

LaRaie (i.e. SFV YA Librarian)
